DAY RIDE

JUNE 1, 2011

On Wednesday, June 1st, we took another Day Ride. Here's Jeff all ready to go.

We left our home here in North Knoxville at 10 am, got on Broadway and then took Washington Pike out past East Towne Mall. From Washington Pike, we rode through Mascot and made our way to Asheville Highway heading north.

We rode through Strawberry Plains and then took a right onto 139. We traveled to 25/70 and into Dandridge. Once in Dandridge, we stopped downtown at the Smoky Mountain Motorcycle Museum. The museum just opened in April and has a great collection of around 25 vintage motorcycles. The collection includes some rare and unusual bikes, well worth checking out. Here are some photos of the museum:

After visiting the museum, we walked down to the Southern Comfort Cafe for lunch.

We sat outside on the front deck and watched the people go by. We both had a very nice lunch. The folks were friendly and the food was great.

After lunch, we walked back to the museum, got back on our bikes and proceeded to Newport.  After stopping for gas in Newport we got on 25E, stopping briefly for a few photos at Annette's Southland, and then rode through White Pine and onto Morristown.

We continued up 25E until we got to Lakeshore Drive, which runs right along the water until you reach 92. We stopped for a short break before heading onto Cherokee Dam.

We walked around the park, enjoying the people playing in the swimming area, before getting back on the bikes.

We continued down 92, then took 11E back to Knoxville. We got home around 3:30 pm and our ride was right at 130 miles.

It was another beautiful day of riding motorcycles!
